Turnover of agribusiness exports hit new record in November 2011 in Brazil

Brasilia – The Brazilian agribusiness exports registered a new record in November, reaching $ 87 billion. The amount exceeds the target set for 2011, $ 85 billion. The data are part of the Agribusiness Trade Balance, released today (9) by the Ministry of Agriculture, Livestock and Supply (MAPA).

The value YTD is 24.4% higher than the same period last year. The positive result is attributed to the increase in the average export price of the main Brazilian products. With respect to quantity, only the soy complex and coffee shipments increased by 8% and 1.4%, respectively, compared to October.

The products of the soy complex (grain, meal and oil) are the main exports of Brazilian agribusiness. The foreign sales totaled $ 22.92 billion. Between January and November, an increase of 38.9% over the same period in 2010. Secondly revenue appears complex sugarcane (ethanol and sugar), with sales of $ 14.99 billion (+18.9%). The meat will follow in the third position among the main exports, totaling $ 14.35 billion (+14.8%).

There was also growth in export value for major economic blocs, between January and November 2011: Africa (+42.1%), Oceania (+49.6%) Western Europe (+33.2%), Asia (+ 31.1%), NAFTA (+22.5%), Mercosur (+19.9%) and the European Union (+18.1%). For countries, this year there was an increase in exports to most major destinations twenty importers, especially (in value) to Algeria (+74.6%), Japan (+49.6%), China (+45.6% ) and Spain (+40.6).
